The Philadelphia Union have made some noise in the world of soccer this season, and it has left fans wondering what is next for the Union and Goalkeeper Zac MacMath.  MacMath came into the season as the Union’s starter and was pulled mid-season in favor of Algerian Goalkeeper Rais M’bohli.  Now fans of the team and MacMath are wondering what is in his future.  There have been rumors that MacMath may be traded to another team in need of a goalkeeper, since the Union now have three goalkeepers who could potentially start for them at any given time.

There has also been buzz about the coaching search and who may become the new Team Manager, and when that might happen.  It is also highly possible that the new manager is known to the front office and ownership of the Union, which might have something to do with why they brought in M’bohli.

The Houston Dynamo have also announced that their starting goalkeeper Tally Hall has been injured and will be rested for the remainder of the season.  With that being said, it is possible that they could strike a deal with the Union which would send either MacMath or number 1 MLS SuperDraft goalkeeper Andre Blake to the Dynamo with a shot at the playoffs.

Having started a total of 23 games this season, MacMath has a record of 6-8-9 and goals against average of 1.61.  He has been the Union’s starting goalkeeper since the departure of Faryd Mondragon after the end of the 2011 season.  The Union will have M’bohli missing from the upcoming Toronto FC matches on Wednesday and Saturday, giving MacMath another start and a chance to use the matches as a “try-out” for any new teams who are looking for a goalkeeper with MLS experience and can come in and play right away.

So, it will definitely be interesting to see how the question “What’s next for Zac MacMath?” will be answered as the Union continue to fight to get into the playoff , other teams who are set up for the playoffs already deal with potential injuries to their goalkeepers, and whether or not MacMath fans will see him move on from Philadelphia.
