Tonight is another pivotal “six point” swing game as two Eastern Conference rivals face off. This is a match that sees Jack McInerney returning to PPL Park to face the Philadelphia Union for the first time since then Head Coach John Hackworth struck the deal that sent him to Montreal Impact for Andrew Wenger, who has been in and out of Interim Head Coach Jim Curtin‘s lineup as of late.

Also returning to the Philadelphia Union is defender and Columbia National Teams Carlos Valdes.  Valdes played for the Union from 2010 to 2012, during which time he was also team captain.  The Union will look to integrate him into a defensive lineup that has seen its share of problems this season.  Valdes told reporters this week he was happy to be back and ready to help out where he can.

The Union will come into the game three points out of the final playoff position in the conference, with the Impact 10 points further back. Union stretched their undefeated run to four games last time out, scoring late to end in a 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City. On the other hand, the Impact saw their league losing streak extended to six games in a 2-0 home loss to Toronto FC at Stade Saputo.   This match will also see Hassoun Camara unavailable due to card accumulation.  It will be interesting to see who the Impact’s Head Coach Frank Klopas will insert into Camara’s position in the lineup and also how the Union will react to the change.

This match is the third time these two teams will meet on the season.  In the seven all-time meetings between the Union and Impact, the Union is 1-4-2.  Also playing into their favor when looking at this match, is that the Impact is winless at PPL Park.  Will the Impact or Union be able to win tonight or will there be another draw between these two sides.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm EST and can been seen on CSN Philly and MLS Live.
