One of the most storied franchises in European soccer, Manchester United has the most English Premier League titles in history with twenty and will attempt to make it twenty-one come this season. However, it will be a tall task after finishing seventh in the English Premier League last season after a very disappointing run with former manager, David Moyes.

After Sir Alex Ferguson left the club for retirement, no one knew exactly how Manchester United would respond. We soon found out that without a competent manager and leader, United would falter and that’s exactly what happened with Moyes. Moyes is gone now and Louis Van Gaal has taken control of the Red Devils and it appears that Van Gaal has made positive changes to the club.

Van Gaal has been quite active in the transfer window but it’s safe to say that Manchester United is always active in the transfer window. Van Gaal was able to sign midfielder, Ander Herrera and defender, Luke Shaw. With these two signings, Van Gaal has also been linked to Arturo Vidal, Juan Cuadrado, Edinson Cavani and Kevin Strootman. These transfers could happen due to the financial backing coming from the front office as well as the brand that Manchester United provides.

Along with the before said transfer rumors, Van Gaal has been linked to many young and talented Dutch players which could play in favor for Manchester United. United has one of the most culturally-diverse teams in the world and that will be an advantage come league play.

Anything but a top-four finish for Manchester United will be a disappointment and could cost Van Gaal his job. The front office always expects a top-four finish due to the repercussions that follow. With finishing in the top four, a UEFA Champions League spot is granted which will allow for more money to come into the club.

Van Gaal has had a long history of making teams number one in their respective leagues and Manchester United will be just another achievement to add to the resume. I believe that Manchester United could win the league but as for right now, I can see United finishing fourth in the league and achieving a spot in the UEFA Champions League tournament.
