I have been debating for a few weeks on if I should write this piece or not. The 2014 world Cup starts today and there are a few countries that are the front runners to win it all.

Off the top of my head I can think of maybe three countries that have the talent and ability to win the 2014 World Cup. The host nation Brazil will be a huge favorite since they are playing on home soil. Spain are the defending champions after winning the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Spain also won the 2012 Euro Cup that was held in Poland and Ukraine.

The third country that I feel has a chance to win it all is Germany. They are also the team that I believe will win the 2014 World Cup. Germany is currently ranked number 2 in the world and have been place in Group G, also known as the “Group of Death”.

Germany has won the World Cup three previous times and this will be their seventeenth appearance overall. They won the World Cup in 1954, 1974 and 1990. Germany is tied with Brazil for the most final reached with 7 in the 17 appearances. The reached the finals in 1954, 1966, 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990 and 2002. Germany also has the dubious distinction of being the runner up four separate times. They finished second in 1966, 1982, 1986 and 2002. They also have finished third the most times in World Cup history with four. The placed third in 1934, 1970, 2006 and 2010.

To be honest I can’t put my finger on why I believe they will win the World Cup but I just feel that they will. Germany has four players with over 100 caps for them with Miroslav Klose having 134.  Klose also owns the scoring record for Germany with 69 goals in those 134 appearances.

I feel that Germany will finish first in Group G and will face Spain in the final and in the end be the country lifting the FIFA World Cup Trophy.
