Colombia Men’s National Team announced their 30-man provisional roster for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil  on Tuesday, May 13th. Coach Jose Pekerman delivered a name people may have not expected to see, Radamel Falcao.

It looked as if the Monaco striker would miss the tournament after having knee surgery in the wake of a serious injury suffered against Chasselay Monts d’Or Azergues in January. The former Atletico Madrid player injured his ACL. An ACL injury can take between six and nine months to full recover. Before his injury, Falcao had scored nine goals in seventeen appearances. During qualifying he also scored nine goals and is the marquee name on the roster.

I know of one player who was not listed and may be a little disappointed, Fredy Montero. I know making the national team roster was one of the reasona Montero wanted to play overseas, but, unfortunately, it appears it did not work out as such.

Colombia was drawn into Group C with Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan. Colombia’s first match will be against Greece on June 14th and will take place at Belo Horizonte. They will then face the Ivory Coast on  June 19th in Brasilia. The finish up group C against Japan on June 24th in Cuiaba.
